Bang!Bang! I shoot with both hands
all the guns I need, all the ammo indeed,
I am the gangster,be it mafia or godfather,
sometimes I am bond, with a license to kill!

I drive my Porsche, its NFS Unleashed,
I ram it in the big broad tree,
a reset key and it's back on track,
does hit-and-run get any better than this?

Swinging and web-slinging,jumping and screaming,
watch out New York city, it's me Spidey,
and when am out of the web,or tired of the swing,
I change to Bruce, with a simple flick of the cd.

It's my world of games and special effects,
do what you dream, and sometimes even more,
shoot,steal,chase,run,fall,fight and kill,
on bad days you might get killed,no worry,
an extra life, here,is all you will need!

Cleaning out my room finally,
disposing of all those dreams,
those lego sets and building blocks,
which made me think i could build,
and form and shape my life as i deemed.

Cleaning out those game cds,
which fooled me all my life into believing,
that i could be a cop and a criminal,
that i could order and even deliver,
that life had slow motion and special effects,
and if you bungle, there were extra lives for play!

Cleaning out those books and fairy tales,
which always ended in happy endings,
which fooled me all my life into believing,
that it always worked out eventually,
that it mattered not,if you good,oh really?

Cleaning out those weird sets and collections,
of stamps,chocolate wrappers,butterflies and cards,
now that these no longer invite my friends' envy,
they are only interested in one boring game now,
who will collect the largest stock of money!

The story of my every morning

trust me this is more than a fling

its so difficult to leave you

the whole day without you is so blue

you dont let me get off the bed

talking about us makes me go red

you pull me under the sheets

you try your best to make me stay

i know it can go anytime your way

i fight with you and beg to let go

you get all sweet and whisper a no

you then try the standard trick

just 5 minutes is all we might need

but i know you and have resolved

never to fall for this trick at all

against all my wishes i get up

to be with you, i dont have that good luck

i promise you, the day wont be long

and i will make up for the distance

i remind you the weekend is near

then we will have all day my dear

you think this is too much in public

cant help it, i just love you - my sleep!!

27 May 2009 - 10:31 pm

I have just changed into my PJs and getting ready to enter the ideal, peaceful world of sleep and dreams. Suddenly , Rakesh (one of my roomies) gets a call from his mausi from bangalore. They have a daughter who has come by to Balewadi sports complex for the under 16 (or under 14 or under 15, do i look like one who is interested in such facts?) tennis (atleast I am sure its tennis!) tournament. The poor kid's mobile has broken down and she has not been able to contact her parents for some 4-5 days. So what do you know? There is always good ol Rakesh who can zip by and get some update as well as be the mobile repairer or atleast the delivery to repairer guy! And good ol me to be dragged by wherever my loafer roomies loaf!

"Haan, haan, haan mausi!" thats the end of the conversation I hear and I instinctively change back into my jeans knowing this might be one of those nights!

10:55 pm

We are at the Balewadi sports Hostel. We expect the security to be Zplus (isnt that the term used for very high security? du uh!).But there we are strolling around the hostel trying to find out someone who can help us. The guards are nonchalantly chatting away within themselves.I expected a huge obstacle here , but somehow the guards just dont want to stop us.I imagine why, I look as non sportsperson as a guy could possibly look - lean, droopy, glasses, intelligent(ahem!). I look at Rakesh - hmmm...he could easily pass off for a wrestling guy but cant imagine an under 16 (or 14 or 15) wrestling tournament no matter how hard i stretch my weird imagination. So instead of the guards running to us, we run to them and for a moment i think they even got scared (again it must be Rakesh....hehehe).
We catch one and interrogate
"shewli upadhyay ka room kaunsa hai?"
"Humko nahi pata saab"
"Koi warden nahi hai yahaan?"
"Woh khaana khaake walk pe gaya hai."

So we wait for the warden to come back. The grass is nice and the air is cool and for the first time in my life - waiting is fun. But thats life , when the wait is fun it gets over quick!
The warden is back from his stroll.
"shewli upadhyay ka kaunsa room hai."
"idhar koi upadhyay nahi hai."
"Tennis tournament ke liye aayi hai - bangalore se."
"Nahi hai bhai- sab booking mein hi karta hoon.Aisa koi naam nahi tha."

Luckily (very luckily) the tennis umpires are passing by and they recognise the name.
"Haan , shewli yahin rehti hai. Room shaayad uski roomie ke naam pe book hoga."

11:15 pm

The tennis umpire takes us to a girl who supposedly knows shewli and can surely tell us where she lives. There are like 20 blocks in the hostel and there is no listing of the girls (or guys for that matter) who live in these blocks. 3 floors in each block and some 20 rooms on each floor and 2 poor shewlis trapped in each room brings an average around 2400 possible shewlis to track. Whew! one hell of a task.

'Shewli's friend': its A block- 2nd floor - room 13
The umpire : There is no room 13 on 2nd floor - it has to be room 213.
'Shewli's friend': It is surely room 13. Must be another floor then
Rakesh: This is all due to my mom.Why did she give mausi my number and promise her that i will go?
Me: Why aren't there any good under 16 females roaming around in the campus!!

11:20 pm

We try the bell at A Block ground floor- room 13.
A very ghost-eyed sleepy poor kid opens.
Rakesh: "where is shewli updhayay?" (this is funny- the puzzled look on the girl's face)
Ghost-eyed sleepy poor kid: "I don't know" (in a scared voice)

We rush to 2nd floor and try the bell at room 213.
This is one paranoid chick inside. She doesnt even open the door and shouts "Kaaaaun?"
Rakesh : "Lee?? Lee??"
Paranoid chick : "Noooo!"

This goes on for 2 or 3 more rooms.
The scene that will stay in my mind forever - Rakesh shouting at every door "Lee? Lee?"
Lo and behold, we hit gold at room 211.
Lee finally (notice the subtle use of a pun) meets her beloved cousin Rakesh cum mobile repairer cum delivery to repairer guy!!

I call this night of my life 'Finaleeee!'

It starts with the bloody uniform
the school teaches you to blend in
to lose your identity and your thoughts
in the uniformity of this society

It starts with the wretched uniform
you are shaped in a common mould
to study the useless past and beliefs
of people long gone and extinct

It starts with the stupid uniform
you grow up to be a qualified being
qualified enough to follow rules
and never to question them or lead

It starts with that miserable uniform
you study the different scientists
and lose the one in your self
only later to work for some big company

It all starts with that dumb uniform
you simply learn the meanings of terms
like innovation and discoveries
only to use them in your day to day dialogue
and never to try to make one yourself

It all starts with the miserable uniform
you are just taught to fit in
to follow the conventions and paths
which have long lost any meaning

and finally it really does start with the uniform
you are leading now a life so common
with almost everyone around you and never try
to break out of it and find your own thing!

The time has come the moment is upon
tired of judged from when i was born
tired of the eyes which despise
everything they see different from their own

tired of being branded in a game
winner or a loser, its just a name
tired of always being classified
unable to live, long before i died

tired of the adjectives,
chasing every act
tired of the comments,
hurled behind every human's back

tired of the biases
ruling those 'intelligent' minds
tired of the opinions
offered when none would be fine

its time now to break the rules
and not stay as one among the mules
its time now to free these chains
and not get lost in these common lanes

its time now to jumpstart this life
and not be a part of everyday strife
its time now to break out of the lore
its time now to get judged no more!
Hiral
Dont you agree now to what i say?
death isnt an instant but slow
its not the encounter on the last day
its something you live with everyday!

Come now , i will take you through it
each step and each part that dies
and then you will definitely realise
you miss some too within, that died

for most people its always, the part
that comes first is of course the heart
this is what gets broken in you
it can be anyone who wasnt true
its the most silent death and yet
even the worst ever to endure

then comes the brain, killed easily
by the mundane , the routine we so love
the work that fails to make us think,
this is by far the most painless,
except for the rare few who depend on it.

then there are the obvious ones,
the physical organs of this superficial being,
the lungs die with every puff of smoke divine,
the liver with every swig heavenly.

then somewhere in time come those dreams
they are offcourse bound to die, they were
too big for these small eyes , but still
i would say save them if you can , they
are the most important part of you,
they are always enough to survive, to take
you through this part by part ordeal.

The finishing line came alive,
the crowd was up in their seats,
cheering and dancing up a frenzy,
the winner was all they wanted to be!

Far off in the distance he still ran,
though now he had no reason to complete,
the crowd would now soon be gone,
about the loser it never really cared.

but instead he erupted in a fresh burst,
pushing towards the finish desperately,
i went upto him as he just ended the run,
'what was the point in completing now?',
He said 'many reasons kid ,but first its fun.'

'What did the winner take today?,
a finished dream , and now he is finished!
i have ran for five years and never won,
but beating myself every year i have done,
and i still have reason to run next year,
hell yeah i am taking more than him dear!'

Winner takes all , they always say,
bullshit! if you running for the prize,
but when you run for the love of the game,
losing is what keeps you alive!
